About Danny

I joined SRLV’s Royalties team in September 2009, immediately after studying Economics at Queen Mary University of London. By January 2022 I had risen to the position of Director.

During that time, I set up two new silos of financial services alongside the general royalty and royalty audit work that already existed. One was independent record label and publisher royalty accounting, the other music copyright catalogue valuation. In the creative industries, I think there are three vital advisors – managers, lawyers and accountants. I see my role as advising on the knowledge gaps that sit in-between all three.

I specialise in royalty financial due diligence within the music and entertainment industry. This includes the traditional roles of royalty audits of record labels and publishers, where I have uncovered millions of pounds of unreported revenue for individual creatives, royalty distribution, copyright registration and contract negotiation. As such, I have represented major worldwide musicians and creatives throughout their careers.

In addition to fulfilling the more traditional roles, I have completed numerous catalogue valuations over the past decade. For every assignment there is a particular need for the valuation, ranging from a catalogue sale/acquisition to leveraged financial lending or a matrimonial dispute.

My valuation approach involves financial modelling of future income streams and profiling of the music copyrights, blending an income approach that utilises discounted cash flows alongside a more pragmatic market approach that adopts appropriate earnings multiples. Where necessary, this is integrated with the remainder of the corporate assets. I have been appointed the single joint expert in a number of matrimonial disputes and attended court proceedings as an expert when required.

As such, I enable my clients to navigate complex, varied issues as straightforwardly as possible to ensure they receive everything to which they’re entitled.

In the creative industries, I think there are three vital advisors - managers, lawyers and accountants. I see my role as advising on the knowledge gaps that sit in-between all three.
