Karen Atkinson

I joined SRLV in 2002, having qualified at Ernst & Young, and am now an Audit Director for a range of clients, including those within the entertainment and music business. As well as working with record labels and music management companies, my portfolio includes travel and marketing firms. Many of these sit in the Owner Managed Businesses division but are large enough to require an audit.

My key responsibilities are managing and delivering my clients’ audit and statutory accounts, including assisting with the preparation of consolidations and consolidated financial statements. Interpreting this information and identifying areas of potential improvement is key to our strategic role in helping clients to refine and improve their business’s performance, as well as minimise any risk.

Over the course of twenty years at SRLV, I’ve valued becoming an integral part of each client’s business team; and working with people who are passionate about what they do is always enjoyable. I’m really interested in my clients’ industries so I’ve gained a thorough understanding – our depth of knowledge enables my team and I to add real value to clients in our position as trusted, integral advisors.

I also act as a resource within SRLV, assisting with technical queries and issues for the practice as a whole, as well as co-ordinating training. As part of the senior team, I’m a counsellor for a number of ICAEW students and find watching their development hugely rewarding.
