SUPPORTING THEATRE ON THE WORLD STAGE
As a firm, our roots are firmly in the Arts and creative industries, and we have an impressive roster of new and established actors, producers and directors, alongside West End and Broadway productions, and international theatre companies.
We have particular expertise in supporting theatre clients through the lifecycle of their productions, including setting up, financing and running static, touring, and leased productions in the UK, and worldwide. The theatre producers we work with often have many different shows and we are frequently involved with each one from the start. Whether it’s helping to set up the right business structures, managing PAYE, VAT, FEU, advising on director/employee incentive schemes, or raising finance and accessing Theatre Tax Relief (TTR), we work as part of our clients’ production teams and are integral to their day-to-day running and decision making.
BRINGING BUSINESS TENACITY
We appreciate the tenacity it takes to get an idea into production so we focus on the areas where we can add most value and free up our clients’ time; from all-round business management and support with production accounting, to withholding taxes and VAT compliance, PAYE, royalties, and Theatre Tax Relief. It’s a highly personalised service which puts our clients’ needs at the very centre.
Our team has advised clients on Creative Industry Tax Reliefs (CITR) since the first reliefs were introduced and over the years, have become widely recognised as leading industry experts. As well as early-stage appraisals for Theatre Tax Relief (TTR) claims and advice on setting up touring and non-touring productions, we can manage all stages of the tax relief claims process with HMRC for our clients, as required.
In recent years, our team has advised on policy reforms to cultural tax reliefs, including Theatre Tax Relief, as part of several government consultations. We also advise production investment companies looking to set up in UK, as well as providing CITR assessments for financiers and industry bank panels.
We are happy that the Chancellor has announced a permanent extension to Theatre Tax Relief. New touring and non-touring productions, which may not have been green-lit, can be, thanks to these new permanent reliefs.
