Applying For Graduate Programmes & Accountancy Internships at SRLV

Whether this is the first time you’ve applied for an internship/graduate programme or not, we want you to have the very best chance of success. Every company you apply to will be different so to help, we’ve compiled a list of top application and interview tips using the experiences of SRLV staff, who joined us as interns and graduate trainees.

OUR APPLICATION TIPS

READ THE JOB DESCRIPTION

Before applying, make sure you fulfil the basic qualification criteria and that the role reflects your own skills and capabilities.

PERSONALISE YOUR APPLICATION

Tailor your CV to SRLV and the job description to emphasise your relevant strengths and transferable skills. Remember that we also value soft skills, alongside academic achievements.

DON’T RUSH IT

The application form is your chance to make a great first impression so take time to craft answers that stand out.  Lastly, don’t forget to proof-read your application and run spelling and grammar checks.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK

Read our website, research the industries we work in and make sure you understand our specialisms and approach to client service. Our staff have plenty of insights to share in their intern and graduate website case studies so be sure to read these too.

SHOW THAT YOU’RE KEEN

We want to see that you’ve understood the role, who we are as a firm and that you’re genuinely interested in SRLV.

OUR FINAL INTERVIEW TIPS

RELAX

We’re on your side and want you to have the best possible interview so it makes our decisions more difficult!  Previous recruits have described their interviews as nice experiences and say that SRLV comes across as a friendly company to work for, so you can feel at ease.

BE YOURSELF

Whilst we look for confidence and knowledge, we also want to get to know you as a person.  Tell us about your interests and don’t be afraid to be confident and express an opinion.

PRACTICE YOUR PRESENTATION

Take time before you come to rehearse – it makes all the difference. Demonstrating good communication skills is important so whilst you’re welcome to bring presentation notes, you should avoid reading from a script.

QUIZ US

The interviews are an opportunity for you to learn about us too.  Think about what you want from your career and have questions prepared to ask us that will help you decide if we’re the right fit for you.

BE WELL PRESENTED

Whilst we have a relaxed company culture, it will create a good impression if you dress smartly for your interview.  Also, don’t forget that we do our own research in terms of LinkedIn or other social media profiles you have, so make sure these are professionally presented and up to date.
